Antique Belgian Black
Information

Antique Noir de Mazy church floor tiles 38 x 38 cm

Reclaimed Noir de Mazy church floor tiles in a fixed 38 x 38 cm (approx. 15" x 15") format – original Belgian black limestone with a deep, natural patina, salvaged from historic churches and ready to create a timeless stone floor in hallways, kitchens or living spaces.

These antique Noir de Mazy church floor tiles are reclaimed from historic churches and buildings in the Namur region of Belgium. Noir de Mazy – sometimes referred to as Basecles or Belgian black limestone – is a dense, fine-grained stone that has been used for centuries in churches, abbeys and townhouses for its deep black tone and elegant appearance.

Each tile is hand-cut and shows an authentic aged surface with softly worn edges and a natural, satin-like patina created by decades of foot traffic. Unlike classic Belgian bluestone with visible fossils, these Belgian black limestone tiles have a more even, almost pure black appearance with subtle dark grey nuances, making them perfect for refined, understated interiors.

With their fixed 38 x 38 cm (approx. 15" x 15") size, these reclaimed church tiles are ideal for entrance halls, kitchens, wine cellars and living spaces. On request, we can calibrate the original thickness down to approximately 3 cm, which makes them suitable for renovation projects and modern builds, including use with underfloor heating. This way you can enjoy the character of an original antique Belgian church floor with the comfort of a contemporary stone installation.
