We have found this antique unique castle chimney with trumeau in the neighborhood of Beaune. This is a rare example in our collection! The chimney is chiseled from French limestone and dates from the 18th century from the time of Louis XIII. You see the ornament in the center of the trumeau. This is called Bas relief. The background is usually chamfered away, so that the ornament comes out nicely. A special technique that was often used in the past. The fireplace has a beautiful patinee where the authenticity and history are even better.
