Le Marais
Exclusive French Oak Planks | Le Marais
The oak planks are the wide-plank core of our antique-inspired Le Marais collection. Crafted from new European oak and artfully aged by hand and machine, these boards recreate the quiet elegance of an 18th‑century French floor – in a format that works for modern construction, global logistics and design-driven projects.
Once the surface has been carefully aged, each plank is stained to a warm, sophisticated brown tone and then finished twice with an oil–wax system. The result is a soft, matte sheen with a comfortable underfoot feel and reliable protection against everyday spills – ideal for high-end residential and boutique hospitality projects in New York, Los Angeles, London, Dubai, Sydney and beyond.
Built for interior designers & global projects
Le Marais is designed first and foremost for interior designers, architects and design-build teams. Our background in reclaimed and antique oak floors, combined with our expertise in producing new engineered and solid oak flooring, allows us to deliver a repeatable, specification‑friendly product with the character of old wood and the consistency your job site needs.
We regularly ship to North America, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia and understand the practical realities of working across time zones: clear drawings, stable formats, solid packaging and dependable timelines.
Solid Le Marais oak planks (20 mm)
For projects where a traditional solid hardwood build‑up is preferred, we offer 20 mm solid Le Marais French oak planks with classic European proportions and a refined, aged surface.
Key specs – solid oak planks:
- Construction: solid European oak
- Thickness: 20 mm (approx. 3/4″)
- Widths: 19 cm and 22 cm (approx. 7 1/2″ and 8 5/8″)
- Profile: tongue & groove on all four sides
- Finish: double oil–wax finish in a warm brown tone
These solid planks are an excellent fit for heritage renovations, townhouses and classic single‑family homes where the feel of solid hardwood is part of the design intent.
Engineered oak planks for radiant heat (15 mm)
For high‑performance homes, condos and hospitality spaces with radiant / underfloor heat, we recommend our engineered Le Marais oak planks. The multiplank construction is designed for added stability under changing temperature and humidity conditions.
Key specs – engineered oak planks:
- Total thickness: 15 mm (approx. 5/8″), built as 11 + 4 mm
- Top layer: approx. 4 mm of Le Marais French oak
- Widths: 18 cm, 22 cm and 26 cm (approx. 7 1/8″, 8 5/8″ and 10 1/4″)
- Profile: tongue & groove on all four sides
- Use case: designed for use over hydronic or electric radiant heat when installed to industry best practice
- Finish: double oil–wax finish, warm brown, low‑sheen
This construction is particularly suited to modern, well‑insulated homes and apartments where stable, wide‑plank flooring must work hand‑in‑hand with efficient heating systems.
Surface, color & character
The Le Marais plank surface is created using a controlled blend of manual and mechanical distressing. The goal is not heavy “rustic” distress, but a quiet, lived‑in patina that feels at home in sophisticated interiors.
- Antique‑inspired wear and texture, without exaggerated tool marks.
- Warm brown stain that layers beautifully with stone, plaster, metal and textured fabrics.
- Double oil–wax finish for stain resistance and straightforward maintenance.
Visually, the planks sit comfortably in contemporary, transitional and classic interiors – from Manhattan lofts and London townhouses to wine‑country homes and boutique hotels.
From antique oak expertise to a reliable plank format
Original reclaimed French oak floors have become scarce, fragmented in supply and often extremely expensive – with highly variable quality. Our team has spent years working with old oak flooring and historic parquet, which gives us a deep understanding of what designers love about these materials: the calm grain, the subtle wear, the soft transitions in color.
Le Marais planks translate that knowledge into a repeatable, project‑ready product:
- The look and feel of an 18th‑century French oak floor.
- The stability and consistency of new, carefully engineered boards.
- Dimensions and constructions that work with today’s subfloors and building codes.
Global shipping, export packing & customs support
We have extensive experience shipping oak flooring worldwide, including regular deliveries to the US and Canada, the UK, the Middle East and Asia‑Pacific. Our team understands the requirements of export‑grade packing, documentation and customs procedures.
For international and trade clients, we can:
- Prepare robust, export‑ready pallets or crates suited to ocean or air freight.
- Provide the commercial invoices and packing lists needed for customs clearance.
- Coordinate with your freight forwarder or logistics partner for smooth delivery to site.
In short, Le Marais is not only designed for the way you specify flooring – it is also designed for the way you ship and install it on global projects.
Working with interior designers & our trade portal
A large part of our work is done directly with interior designers, decorators and architects. We’re happy to be part of your design process – from early mood boards and material palettes to coordinating with your installer on site conditions and layout.
For professional clients we offer a dedicated trade portal, where registered designers and specifiers can:
- Access project‑focused product information.
- Request technical details and documentation for specification.
- Connect quickly with our team for pricing and availability.
If you are an interior designer or architect working on high‑end residential or hospitality projects, you are very welcome to apply for trade access and use Le Marais as a go‑to French oak plank in your library.
Typical applications
Le Marais French oak planks are especially well suited to:
- Luxury single‑family homes, estates and farmhouses
- High‑end condos, penthouses and city apartments
- Boutique hotels, private clubs and hospitality spaces
- Showpiece kitchens, great rooms and open‑plan living areas
- Entry foyers and circulation spaces where first impressions matter
Because the planks share the same color and character as the rest of the Le Marais line, they can also be combined with herringbone, chevron or Versailles panels in adjacent rooms for a cohesive yet layered look.
FAQ for designers & specifiers
Which plank width should I use?
As a rule of thumb, 18–19 cm planks work well in smaller rooms and more traditional layouts, while 22–26 cm planks are ideal for open‑plan spaces, long sight lines and projects where a true wide‑plank look is part of the concept. We’re happy to discuss width options based on your floor plans.
Which construction is best over radiant heat?
For radiant / underfloor heat we recommend the 15 mm engineered construction (11 + 4 mm). It is designed for added stability under temperature changes. The 20 mm solid planks are best suited to traditional subfloors without radiant heat.
Can I mix Le Marais planks with other patterns?
Yes. Many designers use Le Marais planks in main living areas and combine them with Le Marais herringbone, chevron or Versailles panels in entry halls, dining rooms or libraries. Because the color and aging are matched, transitions between patterns feel intentional and harmonious.
