Late 19th-century Louis XVI-style marble mantel from Paris
This antique marble mantel from the 5th arrondissement of Paris dates to the late 19th century. Crafted in white Arabescato marble with light grey veining, the Louis XVI-style surround combines finely carved corner rosettes with fluted decoration. Its rectangular opening and projecting shelf give the varied marble pattern a clearly defined architectural frame.

Marble and carved details
The corner rosettes frame a frieze of short vertical flutes, echoed by longer fluting on the uprights. Moulded edges define the shelf and opening, while the grey veining crosses the carved surfaces in irregular lines. This interplay between repeated ornament and natural stone pattern gives each part of the surround its own visual detail.

Condition and restoration
The surround is in very good condition, retaining its original timeworn patina and light surface scratches. No restorations have been carried out. It is complete, structurally sound and ready for installation, subject to checking the dimensions and installation requirements of the intended setting.
